Cry, the Beloved Nation is a convincing novel authored by Alan Paton that tells the story of any distraught S. africa, and how 1 father encounters the problems of putting his family back together. Cry, the Dearest Country happens in S. africa around the 1940's. Stephen Kumalo, a priest that hails from the town of Ndotsheni, receives a letter all of a sudden, asking him to come to the town of Johannesburg because his sister Gertrude is very unwell. Kumalo can be willing to get this to long and expensive quest, being that two other of his family live presently there; his brother and his child. While in Johannesburg, Kumalo discovers not only his sibling in a rough state, although also his son, Absolom, in an worse state.
