CHALLENGES IN PUTTING INTO ACTION K-12 AND TRANSFORMATIVE EDUCATION

Educational reform in the Philippines, if we may call it that, will be primarily powered by an effort to meet criteria of education in the global world – where our graduates with only a decade of fundamental education, no matter the quality with their knowledge through their anatomist and breastfeeding degrees, were disadvantaged. For this reason both public and private colleges in the Korea, the latter throughout the leadership of the COCOPEA – already launched into the K-12 reform, despite the fact that this is still in the process penalized legislated. A global world having its unforgiving agenda won't let us wait. That is certainly also why there has been very much discussion, at times passionate issue, about the good quality assurance. The outcomes of our schools and HEIs has to be quality effects. And so the Commission in Higher Education offers proposed its Outcomes and Typology Structured Quality Assurance (OTBQA) Proposal. Implementing urgent reconstructs in effort with national government, yet , should not enable us to forget critical mission-commitments we must transformative education.

K-12 as Major Educational Change for Execution

I how to start if anyone got any inkling about how hard adding two years to our earlier known as tranquil system would be. The concept was to decongest grades 1-10, to have more time to teach primary level subject matter well. It was a laudable idea. So to the ten years we already had, we all added Kindergarten in the front side (to better insure that grade schoolers don't drop-out! ), and two degrees 11 and 12 in the long run. Somewhere along the way the idea was added there are many subjects in school that may belong generally there. So the years, 11 and 12, that were there to de-congest 1-10 were at this point congested simply by subjects that had been pushed down from college. Add to this now the idea that person who finishes class 12 should certainly either manage to work as well as to go to college or university. That designed, instruction of a more technological nature would have to be introduced to make students to work, even while instruction of any more educational nature would have to be planned to arrange students today for the truly real college. For the standards of technical instruction, TESDA was engaged; for the criteria of college preparedness, CHED was involved. This published college or university readiness specifications. DepEd centered on preparing the lugubrious approach to the public educational institutions for the transition, and welcomed the suggestion that private schools take care of themselves. CHED focused on OTBQA. In the mean time not everyone understands which college subjects are going to high school graduation, and the particular effect of these shifts for the CHED Plans, Standards and Guidelines (PSGs) of particular disciplines shall be. Not everybody understands just how subjects in senior large schools will probably be taught and with what teachers. There is news of hostile DepEd recruiting of teachers, which make the administrators of schools incredibly nervous. At the same time, there is a fresh proposal intended for 36-unit multi-disciplinary general education program for the new structure of points, for which instructors must be special trained. But the effect of the overall education program on the PSGs of the individual professions and on the mission-based key curricula of the schools remains to be uncertain. In the middle of this – or together with it – instead of CHED focusing on this kind of key operations reform, CHED is discussing a reorganization of the HEI types and horizontal standards of evaluation that must be hypersensitive to type and proved on results. Now 3 horizontal types are staying proposed: the professional company, the college and the university. Fr. Antonio Samson, S. L., President from the Federation of Associations of Accreditors in the Philippines (FAAP), however , features written CHED to point out there that is really not much difference between professional start and the college, so why not stick to the college? In the meantime, the emphasis is on outcomes structured quality assurance....
