Question 1: Love between Calypso and Odysseus

His passion between Calypso and Odysseus can be discussed mainly on the grounds of Pausanias, Socrates.

The love between Calypso and Odysseus may very well be as Common Eros, relating to arguments of Pausanias in Conference, seminar. Common Weakness is regarded as " composed of the female and guy elements”1 and " one particular falling deeply in love with the other's body rather than his/her mind”2, which Pausanias considers that wrong and yet Calypso manifests Common Eros for Odysseus as the goddess falls for him at first sight on the island. Seeing that one can just recognize an individual's physical qualities at first impression, Calypso is not likely to love Odysseus' virtues in mind initially.

Moreover, not only sex attractions among Calypso and Odysseus plays a part in their incorrect love, nevertheless also their particular motives of satisfying each other. Pausanias declares that one satisfying his enthusiast is only accurate when both are in pursuit of benefits. 3 As it happens that their very own motives of giving fulfillment are not appropriate in Pausanias' view though they have precisely the same aim, which in turn indeed can be self-seeking instead of desiring improvement. While Odysseus is in need of comfort and dependency after years of battle, Calypso fulfills him by using care of him and rewarding his sexual desires nevertheless aim to have got Odysseus in the end. Odysseus satisfies Calypso by causing love to her, but plan for the intimacy for his sensory enjoyment and emotional add-on that he has hazy images of those as of the brutality and cruelty of war. Basically, both Calypso and Odysseus do not fulfill each other in the pursuit of many advantages. Rather, they have self-seeking purposes to do so. Therefore it is accurate to consider his passion between Calypso and Odysseus to be
