HALLMARKS OF GOOD EXPLORATION

There are many specialist fields in search of explanations of events, behaviors, and/or phenomena. One way of obtaining possible answers, solutions, and explanations is usually through the advancement theories and research. Studies identified as " a systematic means of collecting, examining, and interpreting information –data– in order to enhance our knowledge of a trend about which usually we are interested or concerned” (Leedy & Ormrod, 2013). This create of analysis results in various interpretations and implementations; with each individual believing his or her technique is the most effective or perhaps relevant. What has become a obvious concern is the fact there are systems of research, even within the field of psychology, that present with such low quality that conclusions are difficult to discern and knowledge within the field is not advanced.

Thankfully there have been experts, within the field of psychology that take hold of research, that have pursued understanding research methods and determining hallmarks great research. An emphasis inside psychological studies have been about ensuring research present a clear purpose, technique that can be realized, tested, and replicated, objectivity, advance understanding related to the phenomena, and/or contribute the already existing hypotheses (Leedy & Ormrod, 2013). There are also ethical considerations that must also be fulfilled within studies, regarding the take care of human participants. The primary concepts related to integrity have been defined in the Belmont Report to incorporate " respect for individuals, ” " beneficence, ” and " justice” (Capella, 2013).

A researcher's decision to incorporate all the hallmarks of good study and ethical considerations ease increasing the integrity and scientific advantage of the examine. These attributes can be found in many studies, both qualitative and quantitative. Asberg and Renk (2013) conducted research that stood up to many of the hallmarks of good research and ethical considerations; appearing to leave tiny room for improvements. Major and range of this analysis paper will be to consider just how Asberg and Renk (2013) demonstrated very good research and use of ethical considerations, uncover elements which may have been forgotten or missed, and discuss ways that future research may improve upon all their findings.

PURPOSE OF RESEARCH

As identified previously mentioned, one of the outline of good studies that it determines a clear purpose, sometimes known as purposiveness. Asberg and Renk (2013) chose to investigate potential predictors of incarceration; especially looking at kid sexual mistreatment (CSA) between other other variables, just like demographics, drug abuse, coping, social supports, etc . (p. 167-175); providing a crystal clear and distinctive purpose. Asberg and Renk (2013) determined that it was obvious, from previous research and research looking at CSA activities reported coming from women in the community, general populace, and college, that " the prevalence of CSA among incarcerated women far exceeds those of women in the neighborhood (20%-27%, Finkelhor, 1994), standard population (32. 2%, Briere & Elliot, 2003), and college (28. 7%, Filipas & Ullman, 2006) samples” (p. 167). Their decision to incorporate studies from previous research literature available supplied a strong basis for what details was already regarded in the field of internal trauma; it also assisted with narrowing major of their analyze.

Asberg and Renk (2013) were able to state clear hypotheses related to their analysis problem. They asserted that...
